Recognizing Schools of Excellence in Education

We believe that true educational excellence is demonstrated not only through academic performance, but also through a school’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of its students. Our recognition program celebrates schools that demonstrate innovation, inclusivity, leadership, and results.

Whether a school is public, private, charter, or specialized, what matters most is their ability to provide a meaningful, supportive, and effective learning environment for every student — particularly those with unique learning needs.

Purpose of Our Criteria

Our selection framework is designed to:

  • Highlight outstanding schools that serve as models of best practices
  • Encourage schools to continue improving and innovating
  • Guide families, educators, and communities toward quality institutions
  • Build a network of recognized leaders in education

Key Areas of Evaluation

We use a comprehensive set of criteria when reviewing schools for recognition. These criteria focus on both compliance and innovation:

Licensing & Accreditation

All schools must be properly licensed and in good standing with their State Department of Education or equivalent regulatory authority.

Qualified Faculty & Staff

Schools must employ credentialed educators, therapists, counselors, and administrators who have relevant certifications and experience.

Student Population

Institutions must demonstrate experience and success in working with a range of student needs, including but not limited to:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Autism spectrum disorders
  • Emotional and behavioral challenges
  • Speech, language, or communication difficulties
  • Physical impairments or health-related conditions

Curriculum & Instruction

A flexible, inclusive curriculum is essential. Schools should demonstrate how they adapt learning experiences to individual students’ needs while maintaining academic rigor.

Individualized Support Services

Schools should offer or coordinate access to services such as:

  • Speech and language therapy
  • Occupational and physical therapy
  • Psychological support and counseling
  • Assistive technologies
  • Behavior intervention programs

Application & Review Process

All applications are reviewed by a selection committee composed of educators, administrators, and professionals in special and general education. The evaluation process includes:

  • Review of submitted documentation
  • Verification of licensing and staff qualification
  • Testimonials or references (optional but encouraged)
  • Assessment of impact across key criteria areas

If awarded, the school will receive recognition valid for a specific year or range of years (e.g., Awarded in 2018, 2021, and 2024), which will be displayed on their public profile.
